A little creativity goes a long way with promotional products. While not all of us will get the dream budget we’ve always wanted for our marketing strategy, we can easily make up for what we lack in monetary support with a little imagination.
Here are a couple of creative tips to help you get by on your budget:
1. A witty tag line can make a lot of difference - No matter how below-cost the product is, if you can find a clear-cut way to connect it with a service or a product, you will be able to save yourself from a promotional disaster.
2. Package it right – You know the promotional item didn’t cost much, but the client doesn’t know that. Sometimes, all it needs is great packaging to make the client value the item more. Here’s where a nice gift box or skillful gift wrapping would come in handy.
3. Set yourself apart – Sometimes a little elbow grease can spell a world of difference. If you did your market research right, you should have a clue as to what kind of promotional strategy the competition is running. Use that to your advantage, pick out something totally different from what they’re getting. Again, if you want to do this right, get the market research pat down. Before picking out a novelty item, make sure that your client’s humor is in step with yours.
4. Choose quality oven quantity – Given that your budget isn’t much, there’s no need for you to pick out the cheapest item in the bunch just so you could give something to everyone. Shave down your list to a couple of people and hand-deliver the select gift to give better impact.
5. Personalized gifts are always appreciated – If you can’t afford to give them something fancy, at least stick with something personal. For instance, you could put together a food basket of their favorite goodies. Top it with a handwritten note, and you’ve got a winner.
